How to Correctly Store Professional Beauty Products

Flatlay of lash adhesive and swatches

Summer and winter months bring both increased and decreased temperatures and humidity. Unfortunately, these can negatively impact the effectiveness and longevity of LVL lash lift products and lash adhesives.

Proper storage is essential to ensure the products maintain their intended performance and remain safe for client use, so with this in mind we have put together a little reminder of the best practices used to help store your favourite treatment products without ‘sweating’ over the small inconveniences the seasonal weather brings.

General storage guidelines for professional beauty products

Cool, dark environment

The ideal storage temperature is between 15°C to 22°C.

Avoid direct sunlight, warm rooms, or storage near windows, radiators, or heated tools. Lash adhesive is particularly sensitive to heat, light, and moisture.

Avoid humidity

Store products in a dry area. High humidity can affect the formulation, especially for adhesives and lash lifting solutions.

Use airtight containers or zip-lock bags with silica gel packs or rice to help control moisture levels.

Refrigerate (with caution)

Unopened adhesive can be stored in the fridge. The ideal temperature is 2°C to 8°C.

Once opened, let it reach room temperature before use. This takes about 30–60 minutes to avoid condensation forming inside the bottle.

Avoid frequent temperature changes

Storing in cars, near lamps, or in direct sun.

Daily storage

For general daily storage, it’s best to store in a sealed container, away from light and air. Consider using a dedicated adhesive container with a silica gel pack or rice to absorb excess moisture.

Storing your LVL system

These formulations are usually more stable but still require protection from heat.

Keep in original packaging

Be sure to keep your LVL products in their original packaging. Store in a cool place (10-15ºC) away from sun and heat. You can also store in a fridge if your room gets hot, but it must be brought back up to room temperature before treatment.

Avoid storing in metal or transparent containers that can retain or magnify heat.

Monitor expiry dates

Heat can accelerate degradation. If a product smells off, separates, or has changed colour or texture, discard it.

Tips for mobile lash artists or hot studios

In summer, mobile artists could consider carrying a small insulated cooler bag with a cold pack to transport adhesives and LVL products. Always try to avoid leaving products in a hot car or in direct sunlight.

If your treatment room is particularly hot in summer, use climate-controlled storage at home or in your studio.

Signs your products may have been compromised by the weather

Lash adhesives may become stringy, thick, or separate; this can lead to poor retention.

For the product in your LVL system, watch out for an odd odour, separation or a change in texture.
