The Ultimate Girlboss Christmas Gift Guide

The Ultimate Girlboss Christmas Gift Guide

This Christmas we are celebrating all things GirlBoss. From the big-time beauty pioneers like Charlotte Tilbury to Wah Nails: an edgy nail-art brand started single handedly by a London art-school graduate which rapidly became a highly-coveted brand collaborating with the likes of TopshopSelfridges and LFW.

To do so, we have each chosen five of our favourite high flyers, and trust us, it was a tough one! Check them out and discover the girlboss behind our favourite brands.

Claudias girlboss picks

Ever since I heard, and subsequently became obsessed with the Spice Girls when I was younger, I have been alllllllll about girl power! Now that I’m older, and hopefully a bit wiser, I like to do a bit of digging to find out more about the babes behind the brands I’m buying and wearing. It makes me SO happy (and SO much poorer) to see that women across the globe are absolute bossing the business world and paving the way for future female entrepreneurs everywhere. Team Girlboss

My Top 5 Girlboss Picks..

Sharmadean Reid – WAH Nails

I challenge you to stalk the #wahnails hashtag on Instagram and NOT fall in love with the brand! The edgy, one-of a kind designs inspired by street style, hip hop and art are a breath of fresh air to the nail scene. Not to mention founder Sharmadean is cool AF, and even though Wah Nails has blown up over the last few years, she refuses to let the brand deviate from its roots. #NAILEDIT (sorry- had to!)

Toni Ko – NYX Cosmetics

Founded when she was only 25 (!!!!!!) makeup enthusiast Toni Ko noticed an obvious gap in the market for high end products at high street prices, and NYX Cosmetics was born! Because of this, she understands the power of the consumer and regularly works with bloggers and vloggers to really understand what we want from our makeup. I personally fell in love with the absolutely insane range of nude lip cremes (Stockholm and Abu Dhabi, FYI.)

Kylie Jenner – Kylie Cosmetics

Slightly biased here because I am the ultimate Kardashi-fan, but it’s not just me that has gone crazy for Kylie! Each release of the infamous lip kit has been selling out in minutes, and she has used this to her advantage, expanding her empire to include limited edition holiday gift sets. Not to mention she named a lip kit after each member of her family. CUTE.

Jen Gotch – Ban.Do

Since reading an interview where Jen Gotch answered the door to her LA office in roller-skates, I have been a huge fan. The brand started with Jen and a friend making flower crowns back in 2008, and has since grown to include a whole range of adorable homeware and accessories, designed by a girl squad in sunny LA. To be honest, anything said to be inspired by ‘champagne-soaked, all night parties’ is bound to be a hit

Sophia Amoruso – Nasty Gal

How could we write a piece about inspiring females without mentioning the original girl boss?! If you don’t know Sophia’s story, she founded ’Nasty Gal’, an eBay shop selling unique, vintage clothing and accessories when she was just 22. Fast forward to January 2016, with an estimated $280 million, it’s safe to say Sophia is SLAYING.

Ems girlboss picks

As a former girlboss myself (I set up my own online store when I was 24 which eventually led me to a digital career years later!) I know how important it is for the sisterhood to support each other. It’s so vital to increase visibility of women in business and encourage more women to represent – it’s a lot easier and much more accessible than most think it is. I’ve always been #teamlady and am fiercely proud to work for two entrepreneurial women who help thousands of women around the world every year realise their business goals when training with Nouveau Lashes.

My Top 5 Girlboss Picks…

Kat Von D – KVD Beauty

I mean really, what can’t this woman do? A Jane of all trades, Kat kills it and has remained one of my solid aspirational life goals / Insta faves since I first saw her on Miami Ink way back. Her awesome beauty brand is the tip of the iceberg for me; cruelty free & vegan, excellent foundation shades suitable for pasty ghosties like me and the greatest selection of bold colour eyeshadows and matte lipsticks! When she announced the brand was launching in the UK my wallet shuddered for good reason *insert infinity hearts for eyes emojis*

Em’s Christmas Pick: http://buff.ly/2h072SO

Gemma Shiel – Lazy Oaf

Keeping it weird since 2001; Lazy Oaf is basically the coolest clothing brand for top weirdos full stop. They’ve kept me kitted out in the best asymmetrical, non-traditional cut & sizing, mental all over print everything for the last few years. From their Casper the friendly ghost collection to my coveted ALIENS varsity raglan, I may or may not squeal at my desk whenever they launch their new season lookbook.

Em’s Christmas Pick: http://buff.ly/2gInI4Y

Emily-Jane Williams – EMJ Company

Emily is a sought after professional MUA with an impressive client list spanning brands, celebrities and press in her own right but back in 2011, after feeling frustrated with current offerings – she decided to go into business designing & manufacturing her own professional kit & lifestyle bags. Every little detail is considered in all of the products in the range, coming from a place of passion as well as creative flair. The range is also cruelty free and vegan!

Em’s Christmas Pick: http://buff.ly/2hEMdjz

Harriet Vine and Rosie Wolfenden – Tatty Devine

Even if you don’t recognise the brand name, you WILL have seen one of their iconic designs here, there and everywhere. Harriet & Rosie met in art school and continued to make awesomely creative and original jewellery designs since. I love that they’re still fiercely independent and just as fun as they’ve ever been.

Em’s Christmas Pick: http://buff.ly/2gAxyRC

Sophie and Hannah Pycroft – Spectrum Collections

One of the brands I’ve loved working with this year is Spectrum. Make-up brushes are notoriously difficult to find cruelty free and even more so, vegan – so discovering Spectrum was an absolute game changer. Their collections are dreamy featuring the best colour palettes, shimmery iridescent accessories and they don’t just look the part – they’re the best brushes I’ve ever used too!

Beth's Girlboss picks

All of these amazing women are showing that sistas are doing it for themselves, rocking a bold lip whilst smashing the patriarchy. – We are nothing less than experts at multi-tasking!

My Top 5 Girlboss Picks…

Bobbi Brown

This woman needs no introduction. From humble beginnings, her cosmetics can be found wherever you are in the world. Oh, and if Kate Middleton is choosing your cosmetics on her wedding day, you know you’ve got the royal seal of approval (see what I did there?!)

The infamous shimmer brick is one of my top picks to have you shimmering this Christmas – http://buff.ly/2gKYn90

Anita Roddick – The Body Shop

A kick-ass business woman, human rights activist and environmental campaigner – an all-round amazing #GirlBoss. Anita opened The Body Shop to create a livelihood for her two daughters while her husband was traveling the globe, showing her girls that it isn’t just the men that bring home the bacon.

My all-time favourite body moisturiser: http://buff.ly/2hNp1f6

Charlotte Tilbury

Charlotte’s hot lips collection, named after 16 inspiring women, makes me firstly want to buy them all, but also showcases a powerful message about Charlotte and her values! The marketer in me is giving serous kudos for this one, clever move CT!

Will ‘Hot Emily’ make me look like Emily Ratajkowski?! I’ll take 20… http://buff.ly/2gKYHoe

Zoe Sugg – Zoella Beauty

A real 21st century #GirlBoss! From creating videos in her bedroom to being the person that every teen aspires to be, oh and a multi-millionaire with her own beauty and lifestyle range.  BE MY BFF? Now, where did I put my Sugg Life hoodie?

Can you ever have too many makeup bags? – http://buff.ly/2gKWWHz

Katia Beauchamp and Hayley Barna – Birchbox

Birchbox, an amazing beauty box-subscription services, created by two entrepreneurial women whilst at Harvard. Its aim is for the everyday person to branch out and try new brands and products. (Maybe we should have spent more time in lectures and less at the pub?!)

Get your December box now – http://buff.ly/2gKTMDS
