Wedding Lashes And Make-Up Tips

With wedding season fast approaching, it’s time to start thinking about bridal make-up. Many brides choose to do their own make-up, so we asked Nouveau Lashes technician and make-up artist Kelly Wilson to give us her top make-up tips for wedding lashes.

The first thing to think about when planning your wedding make up and wedding lashes is prepping the skin. For any make-up artist the key to a flawless finish is a good base, and this starts with skincare. I advise my clients to prep their skin with a good exfoliator to eliminate any dead surface skin cells.

I recommend a Dermatude enzymatic peel once or twice a week for this as the treatment is not too harsh and doesn’t scratch the skin. Hydration is also super important, no one wants to look dry and dull, especially on their wedding day. I recommend Dermatude Active Hydra Booster moisturiser daily as a base; it’s nice and light and suits any skin type.

When I begin applying bridal make -up I always start with a primer. My favourite is Smashbox Photo Finish Primer Water as it’s great for refreshing tired skin and helps the make-up to last longer. I follow this with foundation; I like to use a sheer coverage foundation that can be built up gradually rather than a full-coverage product. For photo purposes, I use a translucent powder to stop the skin from looking cakey, and finishe with a pretty blusher and subtle highlight (Mac Mineralise Skinfinish Soft and Gentle is my all-time wedding hero product). For me, wedding makeup should be simple but pretty and bring out your best features.

On the eyes I like to stick to a fairly neutral range of colours using shades such as taupe, vanilla, muted golds, rose tones, warm and cool toned browns, and mauve, especially on blue and green eyes.

My favourite palettes have to be the Urban Decay Naked collections; they are a perfect mix of matte and subtle shimmer. I also absolutely love working with Anastasia Beverly Hills Gel liner to define the eyes- it is an amazing product.

My favourite lip products to work with are lip liners and creamy lipsticks. I use similar shades in both liners and lipstick to ensure the colour doesn’t bleed in to the skin and lasts all day.

Last but not least, it’s all about LASHES! I could not live without Nouveau Lashes strip lashes as they are the lightest, most natural looking, and easiest to apply lashes I’ve ever tried. My clients love them, especially as they can be re used again so many times.

I apply them with the Ultra Bond strip lash glue which is strong, colourless and long lasting; so lashes really stay put all day. It’s also great for brides with latex allergies and it’s also vegan-friendly.

My favourite wedding lashes styles are

For a natural look: Natural collection style 3

To add volume: Volume collection style 2

For a more dramatic eye: Glamour collection style 2.

For clients that love a natural look and want a low maintenance, I recommend the LVL  treatment as it’s fuss free and lasts 6-8 weeks, making it perfect for the honeymoon and beyond, using just the Nouveau Lash Conditioning Serum to maintain and condition for healthy lashes.
